Job description
The opportunity
We have opportunities for two full-time Assistant Academic Support Librarians at Central Saint Martins (CSM) after the promotion of the previous post-holders.
Our busy library is popular with our students, and being located over three floors of a heritage building overlooking Granary Square near Kings Cross and St Pancras stations, this is an exciting location to work in.
As a member of the Library Services team, you will contribute to the development of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University.
You will assist in the provision of frontline services and work collaboratively as part of a small team co-ordinating and supervising our team of student shelvers.
You will work in a local functional team which will be either customer services or academic support and will play an active role in a cross-UAL working group relating to your functional area.
You will support specified courses and programmes of study, establishing constructive working relationships with course teams, and promoting access to resources, collections and services through effective academic liaison. You will design and facilitate information literacy to support your students in their studies.
The working pattern is as follows:
- Role 1: 10:15 to 18:15 pm, Monday to Friday
- Role 2: 09:00 to 17:00 pm, Monday to Friday with some 10:15 to 18:15 pm shifts each month.
UAL Library Services operates a hybrid approach to working, with a mixture of working from home and onsite working.
About you
We are looking for someone with a compassionate and student-centred approach. You should have a degree level qualification and/or relevant library qualifications and relevant experience in a library or other education or information roles.
You will have demonstrable ability to work in a team and be a first rate communicator with excellent written, presentation and liaison skills. You must also demonstrate the ability to teach information skills and be proficient in Microsoft office with good IT skills too.
Further details about the requirements can be found in the person specification section of the job description. There are essential criteria that cover experience, knowledge and soft skills.
