The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for an Innovation Manager to join our team on a full-time basis.
UAL is a leading UK higher education institution for the Knowledge Exchange (KE) within the creative industries space and it boasts of an extensive global network of public, private and third sector partners. The KE team forms part of the wider cross-UAL Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Enterprise (RKEE) department, and co-ordinates the development, delivery, and monitoring of University of the Arts London’s Knowledge Exchange Strategy and its related activities. These include consultancy, contract research, professional training, collaborative R&D, innovation projects involving students, and enterprise support.
As the Innovation Manager, you will play a key role in developing and managing innovation-focused projects and activities with a particular focus on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships and Innovate UK-funded projects. You will work pro-actively and collaboratively to develop new external partnership opportunities with academic staff and professional networking with businesses, universities, and funders.
About you
We are seeking a skilled collaborator with strong expertise of managing funding innovation processes linked to project development and delivery. A self-starter with a passion for innovation and creative industries, you will be able to translate complex ideas into fundable proposals.
You will be a skilled innovation practitioner with a strong background in developing and managing R&D projects, including the ideation and translation of project ideas into solid funding proposals. You will also possess an impressive track record of managing complex innovation projects in a higher education institution or industry settings.
Your knowledge of funding management, project and risk management will be crucial for this role, coupled with an in-depth understanding of the IP landscape in collaborative R&D environments.
