Job description

The opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised, entrepreneurial individual to join Becoming Regenerative and our six-person team as the lead coordinator of this prestigious UKRI-funded research project (36 months). Spanning four countries (UK, Netherlands, Japan, Korea), multiple partnerships and disciplines, this unique endeavour aims to be the first to empirically unravel how designers innovate with living materials and ecosystems – engaging in interspecies creativity – while developing as transformative entrepreneurs. The core research team (led by Dr Toivonen, Reader in Regenerative Creativity at CSM) is diverse, ambitious and international in outlook, with a commitment to translating key project findings into public-facing content, impact investment frameworks, design tools and positive policy impacts in the UK and globally, with a view to bolstering the regenerative entrepreneurship ecosystem. Hosted at Central Saint Martins, UAL, this project will be carried out in close partnership with the Royal College of Art, Loughborough University London and the UCL Institute for Global Prosperity.

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated, values-driven individual with creative acumen to shape the success of a regenerative design and entrepreneurship research project of high visibility and significance within the UK and globally. Along with important core administrative and coordination duties, the project offers abundant opportunities for collaborating and networking with leading-edge academic and industry sector partners from the regenerative fashion, architecture, biodesign, sustainabletechnology, materials and startup ecosystem sectors in particular.

About you

This coordinator role will be attractive to candidates who are passionate about regenerative and sustainable innovation (as topic areas of interest – direct practice experience in these areas is not required) as well as for those who enjoy staying organised in creative, fast-moving work settings. The ideal candidate will possess a range of relevant skills and experiences, including a prior (or emerging) record of having successfully coordinated international academic research and/or innovation-related projects, relevant budgets and timetables. Such a candidate will also possess a strong sense of enthusiasm for contributing to public engagement events, online content co-creation (together with freelancers and artists) and project branding activities as well as regular copy-editing work.

The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to join a culturally diverse, ambitious and inclusive team drawn from four leading universities and driven by an authentic commitment to catalysing regenerative innovation and transformative change at the highest levels of quality and impact. The job description contains further detail about the specific tasks you will be expected to undertake and lead.

If you have any questions about this role please contact the Principal Investigator Dr Tuukka Toivonen at t.toivonen@csm.arts.ac.uk
