Job description

The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to provide paternity cover as the 3D senior lecturer for BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects at London College of Communication (LCC). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and delivering the curriculum across year 1 and 2 of BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects and year 3 BA Animation: 3D Computer Animation pathway.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in teaching and assessment at undergraduate level, work closely with the course leaders, contribute to curriculum development in the domain of 3D, have expertise in industry workflows and pipelines, foster collaboration within the course teams, and provide pastoral support to students.

BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects and BA Animation: 3D Computer Animation pathway reside within the Moving Image and Digital Arts Programme alongside immersive media, games art and games design courses within the Screen School. The role offers a unique opportunity for a candidate who is committed to maintaining an innovative creative curriculum in this area of the School’s portfolio, and who is keen to promote inclusion and cultural diversity for graduates looking to develop a deep understanding of the complex specialist skillset of 3D and Visual Effects.

About you

You will be an outstanding leader, teacher, practitioner and/or researcher. You will have experience of higher education (or comparable context), an ability to lead on curriculum development and assessment, be able to contribute to the Programme’s research and/ or knowledge exchange profile.

You should be comfortable working with diverse cohorts of students and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice and engaging students through a combination of innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and/or research.

You should possess a record of professional practice/research, with a proficiency in 3D Computer Animation. Knowledge of relevant software is essential such as Maya, Z brush, Substance Painter, Houdini, Unreal, Nuke, Adobe Creative Suite.

You will be keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work. You’ll be proactive and actively contribute to the programme’s aims and vision. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of 3D and Visual Effects in an academic and/or professional setting and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields.

Ideally you’ll have a relevant teaching qualification or recognition. An undergraduate qualification in a creative field is preferred but not essential if comparable experience can be evidenced.
