Job description
The opportunity
Are you passionate about technology and helping design students bring their ideas to life? We're looking for a talented individual to join our Technical Resources team, which supports students in the Design and Material Practices program. In this role, you'll wear many hats! You'll develop workshops and resources and provide technical expertise in three key areas: digital design, physical making, and product design. You'll guide students on their design journey, helping them navigate development workflows that turn their ideas into prototypes. As part of a collaborative team, you'll also play a key role in managing our makerspaces and other technical areas. This ensures these spaces effectively support a wide range of student needs, from teaching and learning to making, research, knowledge sharing, events, exhibitions, and more.
You'll be a valuable source of information, providing data to studio managers and course leaders. Additionally, you'll act as a point of contact for the technical resources team, ensuring everyone has access to accurate and up-to-date information.
About you
You are a creative person passionate about Product and Furniture design. Experience in a creative environment is essential. You should be proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Rhino) and rendering software (e.g., Keyshot, Twinmotion). We also value a comfort level with hand tools and expertise in digital fabrication methods. You'll play a key role in keeping our studios running smoothly. This includes being able to support and maintain studio equipment and hand tools. Safety is our top priority, so a strong attention to detail and willingness to establish best practices is important. Training and development will be provided for any aspects of the role you may need to develop.
The scheduled interview date is 30/08/2024.
