Job description

The opportunity

Who are LCC Technical Resources?

As a team, we manage the technical spaces and resources at London College of Communication (LCC) in ways that support the needs of our community: from teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange to events, exhibitions and commercial activity. Inclusive and dynamic, we have a strong commitment to developing staff and supporting them to reach their full potential.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for the coordination and management of 2 distinct technical areas within the College – The Digital Space and Digital Print. You will play a key role in developing the teams, ensuring they respond to an evolving curriculum, and of making workshops, equipment and resources accessible and inclusive.

As an active member of the Technical Management Group, you will help deliver the technical resources strategy and provide vital information and expertise to the Technical Manager: Screen School & Digital Learning and Head of Technical Resources.

You will ensure The Digital Space and Digital Print teams deliver operational objectives and meet strategic targets, and you will liaise continuously with academic programmes and courses.

You will ensure that students at LCC have access to the fullest range of technical resources and experience the latest developments within creative software, digital literacy and digital print, and that resources are being used safely and efficiently.

As LCC prepares to move into a new building, you will play a significant role in helping to influence and shape its development.

About you

You will be an innovative and creative technician with a passion for creative software and/or digital printing, excited by the prospect of leading a group of talented specialists.

You will relish the challenge of supporting a diverse range of talented creatives and renowned academics. Experience of supporting customers and stakeholders in a creative environment is key. Knowledge of Health & Safety management related to the designated technical area is also essential.

You will ideally have extensive technical knowledge in one or more of the following fields:

  • Digital media, post-production, 3D, moving image, photography, sound
  • Digital design, illustration, publishing, digital printing and related processes
  • Team coordination, line management, staff development

You will be analytical and a keen problem solver who is equally at home helping students find solutions to complex problems as well as working to develop knowledge exchange partnerships and research collaborations.

You will play a key role in ensuring LCC remains a leading institution, delivering outstanding technical spaces that blend traditional and future technologies, and which guides students to develop their skills and discover new possibilities and practices.

The University offers highly creative working environments that inspire staff across all areas to fulfil their potential and continuous training to further develop their skills and expertise.
